Happy birthday...

...to my brother, who turns 29 today. Enjoy that last year of your 20s while you can--as soon as you turn 30, your joints start to crumble, your hair turns gray, and you can't remember who inked Kirby's stuff in the 1980s*. Actually, your hair doesn't start to turn gray until you're 31, so enjoy those two years!

*Note to self: it was Greg Theakston.

Actually it starts to turn gray when you are 28. Wasn't Mom going gray by 35?

Crap, I'm 29 (.5, approximately), and I've been going gray for a few years now. Also, didn't Mike Royer ink some of Kirby's stuff in the 80s? Captain Victory, I think...

Mom had a big gray streak in her hair as early as I can remember, and she was 28 when I was born. I'd imagine it was completely gray by her late 40s, though we really had no way of knowing for sure. (I hope she's not reading this.) I actually found my first gray hair on my 20th birthday, but it's just since I got my hair cut that there's been noticeable silvery stuff on top.

Royer probably did ink Kirby's non-DC work, but I was really thinking about my first exposure to Kirby's work: Who's Who entries and the first Super Powers mini. In my defense, I was probably about 8 years old at the time.

Guess what-I am I reading it. I found ,or rather your Grandmother found, my first gray hair when I was 5 years old. Maybe having two sons named Dick and Willie had something to do with my hair turning gray early.
